karma

So, I killed two wasps the other lunchtime as they were pestering my lunch colleague who’s fear of them was not allowing her to eat her lunch and it seems that the karma has finally caught up with me today. Football was good for B and so was my cuppa back at Max’s but then my madeira cake for Nana’s birthday tomorrow came out the oven slightly split and then broke into three pieces, the dishwasher decided that it didn’t want to drain itself anymore and I completely fogot to buy garlic for a roasted garlic tart for tomorrow despite it being the first item on my shopping list.

On a more positive note, Al made a start on the ceiling of the bathroom (we can’t afford decorators as the bathroom has sucked our cashflow dry for a bit), I managed to get the dishwasher working again after only having to manually drain it twice, the second cake came out perfectly and looks ok now it’s iced and Al and B have now gone out on a last minute trip to Waitrose to buy me garlic.

So, moral of the story? Don’t panic, have a glass (or two) or Rose wine and all’s well that ends well (or something like that).

questions

So, B’s question of the night was how was the first one born born? Erm… handed that one straight over to Al to try and explain evolution which included asking B if she thought she looked like a monkey to which she exclaimed “no!”

Still loving the new bathroom and only ever so slightly wishing that the electric shower had a bit more uummppff to it.

getting there

So, we finally have a non-damaged bath ready for installation tomorrow along with the floor tiles and then erecting of the shower wall possibly. Who’d have thought that trying to make a bathroom in quite a small space could present so many questions, decisions and faulty goods (the radiator’s having to be replaced too due to a dent in the top of it). Don’t think we’ll be showering before next week but it’s working out ok for me as I’m showering first thing at work which is working out ok. Will be living on bread and water for the rest of the month due to the expense but I have a feeling it will definitely be worth it in the end.

More importantly though it was B’s first day back at school and it appears that she loved it. She was first one out in the playground and took great delight informing me that it was only the boys that she played with at breaktime. She bought home a new book too which we lay on the sofa and she read to me, impressing me with her reading and making me not feel too bad that we hadn’t really done much over the holidays (too busy playing and having fun – which is the way it should be).

hot, hot, hot

Went along to my first ever yoga session tonight and to make it even more exciting it wasn’t just yoga but it was an hour and a half of “hot yoga”. I never knew one could sweat rivers and whilst I’m very happy with myself for being able to attempt every move to varying degrees of success, I did also not manage to pass out due to the heat and strict water sipping intervals by the teacher. It was certainly an experience and one that I probably will attempt again some time soon!

bathroom bits

So, Switzerland was great with loads of sunshine, happy B and plenty of reading time so I finally finished the Godfather which I totally loved. Two weeks on though and I have a stinking cold still which prevented me from sleeping much last night as I couldn’t breathe which in turn was not helped by the afternoon/evening party that we had for Al. Magic buses was the drink of choice with Jez in the kitchen almost every 15 minutes shaking up new ones. Had to pop out to the offy to get more tequila but I was happy as I just transferred my mojito into B’s Hello Kitty and sauntered round with J & C and their bottles of beer. This morning though is another matter. With all of the new bathroom bits either arrived or on their way (I hope considering the past stressful week that I’ve had deciding on what to get, trying to find the best price and also companies that will get the goods to me before the end of next week – the new bath in the garden was quite a party piece to have though), this morning it was tile shopping which, on a slight hangover and cold was not what I was most looking forward too. At least the guy didn’t actually start today which had been the original plan until he realised that the 2nd was indeed a Sunday – his call at 8.30 this morning to say he would be here at 9.00 tomorrow was music to my ears.

Four more days before B goes back to school and I think it’s been a good holiday for her even though it’s been a bit all over the place. Haven’t done too much reading or writing practice but she’ll get all that come Thursday and we all finally get back into some kind of routine (although possibly without our morning showers for a bit – think I’ll just have to get into work a bit earlier and have one there!).

Have decided that I’ll try and write a bit more this month .. but then I’ve done that before and have failed fantastically! We’ll see….
